As Simple As A Possible narrative

• Artist’s statement for two video art and installation pieces by Rasoul Moarak Nejad

“Where does the boundary between illusion and reality lie in video art and installation? Is light the primary agent? The reflections of light, and certainly the object that absorbs and then reflects light. Yet, illusion resides not in the image but in my imagination. An intertextual relationship from image to imagination pulls me into one or more narratives. A heterogeneous spatial narrative hallucinates me. A moment later; how many nightmares do I carry with me. You too have become a part of this illusion of mine.”

Yet, the illusion lies not in the image itself, but in my imagination. An intertextual relationship between the image and my imagination draws me into one or more narratives. A heterogeneous spatial narrative captivates me. A moment later, how many nightmares do I carry within me? You, too, have become a part of this illusion of mine.
