Rasoul Moarek Nejad
Born in 1968, Isfahan, IRAN
Fin Art MA, Tarbiat Modarres University, Tehran
Rasoul Moarek Nejad is a contemporary Iranian artist working in painting, video art, and writing. His art is characterized by its simplicity and philosophical profundity that reflects on abstract concepts of existentialism, time, and identity.
Moarek Nejad’s Art:
Kinetic Engagement: Moarek Nejad explores the very essence of existing, their relationship with time and reality, all of which he presents through a series of visual pieces that answer existential questions of symmetry and stillness.
Social Critique: Several of his works address contemporary global issues like war and migration, showcasing a visual critique on inequality and social stratification.
This applied multimedia approach allows him to articulate his ideas through a wider method, from painting to video art.
Recurring Themes:
Women and Identity: Women represent, in much of his work, both nature and identity; a concentration on female roles in society.
Time and Memory: Time and memory are ever-present themes in his work, and through used of repetitive imagery and slow motion they are expressed.
Moarek Nejad is appealing to a particular demographic of art lovers interested in the philosophical and the abstract, so it’s just as well. His work creates space for reflection, and invites viewers to explore their own place in the world.
Artistic Journey:
Moarek Nejad’s artistic career started as a video artist and he was a member of the Isfahan Filmmakers Association. He began painting professionally in 1989 and has written 10 books with his art. The Beginning of His Long-Lasting Dialogue with Video ArtHis first video art piece was Creation (1994).
